Man to stand trial for teenager’s murder

A TOOME man has been returned for trial accused of murdering a Bellaghy teenager.

Phelim McNally (26), of Station Park in the village, is charged with killing 18-year-old Lauren O’Neill on May 19 last year.

McNally is also accused of attempting to murder Lauren’s sister, Brenda O’Neill (21), on the same date, at a house in William Court, Bellaghy.

He was remanded, in custody, until his arraignment at Belfast Crown Court, on a date to be fixed, when he appeared at Magherafelt Magistrates Court.
