McCrea selected to fight Mid-Ulster

THE DUP has selected Ian McCrea as its candidate to fight the Mid Ulster seat at the next general election.

Mr McCrea was selected unanimously at a meeting of the party's constituency association. He said he was "looking forward to the election contest".

He said: "It is time to reverse the neglect of this constituency at Westminster."

The Mid Ulster seat is held by Sinn Fein's Martin McGuinness, who polled 21,641 in the 2005 election.

The seat was previously held by Mr McCrea's father, William McCrea, now MP for South Antrim.
