Niall makes a 'World of Difference' for Gok Wan

A MAGHERAFELT man met style guru Gok Wan when he came to Belfast recently, encouraging people to make a 'World of Difference.'

Niall Kielt was a 2009 World of Difference winner after getting involved in working for a charity of his choice for two months and getting paid for it by the Vodafone Foundation.

Self-confidence champion Gok Wan is currently on the lookout for 500 people who are passionate about putting something back into their community.

The Vodafone World of Difference programme is open to anyone over 18 in the UK who has the enthusiasm, drive and commitment to donate themselves to a charity.

Placements run for two months and the Vodafone Foundation will pay the chosen charity a total of 2,500 with winners getting the balance when all tax and National Insurance has been paid. Charities will also receive 250 towards expenses associated with the winner.

Gok is travelling around the UK, visiting major cities to meet charities and participants from last year’s World of Difference.

“I’m all about confidence and feeling good about yourself, that’s why this programme fits so well with my personal ethos,” said Gok. “Nothing makes you feel better than getting involved in your community. The Vodafone Foundation’s World of Difference is a unique chance to go out there, donate yourself to a charity and get paid for it! So come on people, get in touch with your local charity or check out the charity matchmaker too!”

People need to get in touch with their chosen charity and tell them what you’d like to do for them. Once they’ve agreed, then simply log on to vodafone.co.uk/worldofdifference and complete the application form. Entries close on November 23 and placements start in March 2011.

For those who want to participate but don’t have a specific charity in mind, visit the unique charity matchmaker tool at vodafone.co.uk/worldofdifference. The matchmaker gives details of charities looking for World of Difference placements in their area.
