Quinn urges health centres to consider evening opening

SDLP Cllr Tony Quinn in his role as a member of the Northern Health and Social Services Council has made an appeal on behalf of the public, for health centres in the Cookstown District Council area to adapt a flexible approach when scheduling their opening times during the week.

“It has long been recognised that changes in working patterns and increasing numbers of parents entering employment when children are at school and day care that regular opening hours in health centres are becoming increasingly out of step with modern day living.

“I have been made aware of several evening clinics operating well in the Northern Board area and I feel both health centres and patients in the Cookstown District Council area would benefit from such an arrangement,” he told The Mail.

Recognising the dedication of local health centres Cllr Quinn urged that an evening opening initiative be explored to help those families and individuals who are experiencing greater anxiety when trying to access health services and attend appointments.
