Shake the Glitter make a big impression on Louis Walsh

AFTER weeks of promotions, local girl group Shake the Glitter received just over 19,600 votes in the TV3 Glee club competition.

Unfortunately this was only enough to secure them third place.

With the winning group having 25 members, it was always going to be hard to compete in the voting.

The presenter of The Morning Show, Martin King, and judge Caroline Downey from MCD Promotions, both cited the girls as being their favourite.

They thought the girls were destined for greater things.

Music mogul Louis Walsh also said he could see them making a career for themselves after the competition if they put the right effort in.

The girls, Fiona Harte from Pomeroy and Gemma Hagan and Sophie Griffin from Ardboe want to express their thanks to everyone who supported them along the way in this competition, and especially those who voted for them.

The girls were given the opportunity to sing at various functions, including the teenage disco at Creggan, the dinner dance in Pomeroy for the Drama group, the BBQ at Lavery's Bar, the Mint Bar, as well as at Asda in Cookstown.

They also sang at several local primary schools.

Shake the Glitter will also sing at forthcoming local events, such as the Credit Union Fun Day in Ardboe on Sunday, August 15, and a charity event in Carrickmore for the Royal Hospital for Sick Children alongside other artists.

Keep an eye in your local paper for Shake the Glitter - the girls plan to be around for a while.
