Spring into Health

WITH springtime upon us and the longer evenings arriving, Carntogher Community Association in partnership with Kilcronaghan Community Group, Maghera Parish Caring Association and Naíscoil na Speiríní are holding an event designed to raise awareness of health issues affecting people of all ages.

The event is designed to be informative, interactive and most of all enjoyable.

It is hoped that “Spring into Health” sends a strong message about the importance of health and fitness care, and make the community more aware of what health services are available to them and their families. The goal is to empower community members of all ages to take responsibility for their health and future.

The event will take place on Thursday 21st March in Maghera Recreation Centre from 10am to 1pm and will involve a wide range of exhibitors including local health professional – TM Glass Pharmacy, Convery Opticians and Maghera Dental Care. Other exhibitors confirmed are Women’s Aid, Magherafelt Volunteers Centre, MARA project, TIPSA, Agewell to name a few. Visitors to the fair can also expect opportunities to avail of Alternative therapy taster sessions including Kinesiology, Iridology, Acupuncture, Reflexology plus much more. Refreshments & fruit will be provided throughout the morning.

For the mothers there will be baby massage taster sessions, mother and baby yoga, advice from Breast feeding support group and information on Gold Sure start. Kid’s entertainment will be provided by Busy Babies and Tumble Tots to entertain your little ones while you enjoy what the fair has to offer.

Jacqueline Cartin (Nutritional Therapist) will deliver a talk and food demonstration at 10.30pm which will cover looking after your families health through nutrition. The event will also provide demonstration in Zumba Gold and Pram Fit to get visitors on their feet! A Cookery demonstration focusing on cooking for small families will finish off the event and provide some light lunch for visitors.
