Teen punched during band parade: appeal

A YOUNG boy was punched in the face by a member of a loyalist band during a parade in Magherafelt.

Police are appealing for information following the assault on the 14-year-old which happened around 10.30pm on June 30.

The victim was trying to cross Westland Road close to Rainey Street junction when he was grabbed by the throat by a male band member and then punched in the face by another male band member.

Witnesses to the incident are asking anyone with information to contact Police at Magherafelt on 0845 600 8000 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
