Textile Workshops at the Burnavon

LOCAL textile artist Andrea Hayes has recently been on hand regularly at the Burnavon Arts and Cultural Centre to deliver workshops in both Felt making and Hand and Machine embroidery.

Participants in the four weeks Felt making course picked up quickly on all the basic techniques and what was possible and a wide range of pieces, including pictures, accessories and some very funky jewellery were produced as a result.

The Burnavon was also the venue for a full one day workshop in the technques of Hand and Machine embroidery. Again Andrea shared some very inventive tips and techniques with the participants and a vast range of fantastic artwork was created.

These textile themed workshops were a sample of a range of classes delivered as part of the Arts and Culture Programme of Cookstown District Council and we are grateful to Andrea for her input and expertise in the making the workshops so popular and successful. Further workshops are planned for 2013, so keep an eye out for details in the new Burnavon programme, which should arrive on your doorsteps before Christmas.

Andrea Hayes will be one of the exhibitors at the Winter Craft Fair at the Burnavon on Saturday 24th and Sunday 25th November . Be sure to watch the press for further details and to come along and see what Andrea and all the other fantastic craft producers have on offer.
