Vandals target Maghera primary school

ARSONISTS set fire to a clothing bank and a coal bunker at a small Maghera primary school in the space of one week, it has emerged.

It happened on the Ballymacilcurr Road, Upperlands at the beginning of last month, but details of the damage has only came to light.

Vandals completely destroyed a clothing bank, situated just outside the school grounds, on Saturday 6th October. Luckily no-one was injured during the incident, which occurred around 10am.

The second incident occurred sometime between Saturday 6th and Monday 8th October when a coal bunker inside the school grounds was set on fire. Criminal damage was also caused to the school property.

Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed suspicious activity around the school or has any information to contact them at Magherafelt station on 0845 600 8000 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
