Welcome for Shore Road resurfacing

A ROAD surfacing scheme in the Ballyronan area has been welcomed by a local councillor.

Cookstown SDLP Councillor Christine McFlynn praised recent work by Road Service on the Shore and Salterstown roads in and around the village.

Councillor McFlynn said: “I welcome the resurfacing work being done by Roads Service along the Shore Road.

“Particularly welcome is the work being done at Keightley’s Corner, where the deteriorating road condition is thought to have been a contributing factor in a number of road accidents at that location over the past months.

“I also welcome the resurfacing work on the Salterstown side of Ballyronan, which will be a vast improvement for road users.”

Local residents will benefit from the improved road surface and the safer road conditions as a result of the Roads Service work.

The SDLP representative added: “Our rural roads are a vital lifeline for local communities and the local economy. It is essential that they are maintained to the highest possible standards.

“The SDLP will continue to argue for the development of a co-ordinated, and properly funded, strategy to improve our rural roads network.”
