Women convicted of benefit fraud

TWO women have been convicted at Dungannon Magistrates’ Court for claiming benefits they were not entitled to.

Ann Henry, 31, of Ardstewart in Stewartstown, claimed Income Support and Housing Benefit totalling £2,686 while failing to declare capital.

She was given a three month prison sentence suspended for two years and ordered to pay court costs of £37.

Juliette Hagan (42) of Gortalowry Park, Cookstown, claimed Jobseekers Allowance totalling £2,447 while failing to declare employment. She was given 80 hours community service.

Both are also required to repay the money they wrongfully obtained to the Social Security Agency.
