Workmen find ‘suspected gun’ on Glenshane Pass

POLICE and Army Technical Officers were called to a picnic area on the Glenshane Pass yesterday, when workmen discovered a “suspected firearm”.

The item, which police say may have been there for some time, was spotted at approximately 10am on Tuesday, February 14 before the area was cordoned off.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: “Police and ATO attended a picnic area on the Glenshane Road, just outside Dungiven, after workmen discovered a suspected firearm around 10am. It appears the item may have been lying there for some time. Enquiries are ongoing.”
