Magherafelt library’s first Festival of Words

MAGHERAFELT Library is holding its first Festival of Words next month - which includes three free events.

The festival is a celebration of words through literature, poetry and storytelling and a full and varied programme of events.

It kicks off on Thursday (October 3) at 7.30pm, when Christina McKenna will launch her latest novel ‘The Disenchanted Widow’. Christina is an author who was born and raised in Draperstown.

‘Take Three’ poetry workshops, followed by Open Discussion with poets Moyra Donaldson, Chelley McLear and Denise Blake is on Saturday (October 5).

Poetry Workshops will be held from 10.30am - 1pm. Booking is essential as places are limited.

After each workshop there will be an open session from 2.30pm - 4pm offering all participants an opportunity to enjoy a question and answer session with the poets.

‘Loud and Live in the Library’ with Paul Casey, on Thursday, October 10, at 7.30pm.

In 2010, songwriter, guitarist and singer Paul Casey supported legendary guitarist and 30 million album selling Chris Rea.
