Magherafelt man called staff ‘f***ing pricks’

A Magherafelt tarmacer who became abusive towards shop assistants when they refused to serve him alcohol, appeared at the local Magistrates Court on a disorderly behaviour charge.

District Judge Alan White described 37-year-old Vincent McCann’s behaviour at Highfield Service Station, Moneymore Road, as “daft”.McCann, of Leckagh Drive, was fined £215 arising out of the incident which occurred around 11.15pm on March 9.

A PPS lawyer explained that when McCann was told by assistants the off-license was closed he began to shout and entered the off-license area and picked up two cases of beer.

He said defendant then left down the cases on being confronted by staff, whom he called ‘f..king pricks’ before leaving. A lawyer said McCann was intoxicated and he said it had been a “regrettable incident.”
