A FORMER Magherafelt man has been sent for trial on a malicious wounding charge arising out of an alleged incident in the town earlier this year.
Sean Conway (23), with an address at Farrington Gardens, Belfast, is accused of wounding Corie Mawhinney at Rainey Street on April 20.
Conway also faces charges of possessing two offensive weapons - kitchen knives - on the same date.
Applying for two counsel at Magherafelt Magistrates Court, a defence barrister said it was a serious matter as the defendant had earlier been charged with attempted murder.
District Judge Des Perry acceded to the application and returned Conway, on bail, for arraignment at Londonderry Crown Court on December 12.
