Two Mid Ulster pupils are set to light up the stage in the Grand Opera House next weekend.

Sperrin College pupils, Bethany Kate and Georgina Bayliss will be showcasing their talents on Friday 25, and Saturday 26 April as they take part in The Sleeping Beauty for the company’s first visit to Belfast. Bethany Kate and Georgina are experienced performers both in dance and acting however, this is a fantastic opportunity for them to be part of the English Youth Ballet.

The policy of the English Youth Ballet is to perform full length productions of classical ballet in regional theatres in the UK, and to give young dancers an opportunity to perform in a classical ballet within a professional setting.

In Northern Ireland there are 112 male and female dancers selected to take part in The Sleeping Beauty Production and these young stars will take to the stage alongside seven professional dancers formerly from companies including the San Francisco Ballet, English National Ballet, Ballet Ireland and Northern Ballet Theatre to bring this enchanting story to life.

The Ballet has been described as ‘Utterly Stunning’ and ‘A fantastically choreographed spectacle’

by English newspapers. We look forward to seeing our Sperrin pupils in the production.
