HAVING won the coveted prize in 2011, local firm Manor Architects have once again been shortlisted for Innovative Small Employer 2012 through the Irish News Awards.

Having been finalists in ‘best young business person of the year’ two years running and presented a Civic Award for contribution to Business in 2011, Manor are no strangers to this type of recognition. With expanding projects in Scotland, England, R.O.I and the whole of N.I, Manor certainly seem to have taken opportunities when they have arisen, which has seen them restructure, rebrand and ultimately make them a more adaptable firm.

Aidan Bradley and Johann Muldoon Directors at Manor said, ‘it’s been a tough year for many companies, we are always reassessing how we operate, but to be shortlisted again is something, which at Manor we are very proud of. Lately we have found ourselves having a more holistic role on projects, from inception to completion, including the branding, logo, to design and delivery and even ‘aftercare’.

Manor have most recently completed phase 1 of Time Bar Venue in Cookstown, lodged an application for a Visitor Centre adjacent to Dunluce Castle on the North Coast and are involved with nursing homes, soccer academies and more recently sustainability, from Wind Generators to biomass and geothermal energy. These, combined with their position on the Ministerial advisory group for Architecture and as Expert Witnesses, are some of the key factors in them being shortlisted for this prestigious award.

Manor advised that people ensure the Firm they employ is RIBA affiliated.

With Johann recently appointed to the RSUA Council, Manor have placed themselves at the forefront of Architecture, to ensure best value and service through taking an active role at local and national level.

Aidan and Johann said, ‘Being recognised in this way is fantastic, the challenge is to apply it every day, but we like to consider Manor as a positive, optimistic firm and with hard work, creativity and a realistic approach that anything, even a recession, can be overcome, Innovation and reinvention have been part of our process to push our way through these challenging times, which we continue to do’.

The awards ceremony is in the new Titanic Building, Belfast on the 21st June 2012.
