SEVERAL local schools were among those which received approval from the Education Department following their applications to the Schools Enhancement Programme amounting to £106m.

While welcoming the announcement, Mid Ulster’s DUP MLA Ian McCrea said he would continue to press the Minister for further much needed investment in other schools.

“I welcome the announcement that approval has been given to three local schools to enable refurbishment works or extension of existing schools to take place,” he said.

“The Rainey Endowed in Magherafelt, St Mary’s Grammar in Magherafelt and St Joseph’s Grammar in Donaghmore will all receive additional funding to develop their sites and I trust at the same time provide a positive impact to local construction companies.”
