Mid Ulster DUP MLA Ian McCrea joined party colleague Minister Arlene Foster at an event she hosted in honour of the Queen becoming the longest reigning monarch in British history.

The throne in which Her Majesty sits on her visits to Northern Ireland was on display at the event and her coronation vase, that usually sits in the First Minister’s office, was on show last night.

At 89-years-old Queen Elizabeth will become the longest reigning British Monarch, having reigned for 63 years and seven months, today - a total of 23,226 days.

Mr McCrea said on his Facebook page: “Last night at Stormont, I attended an event hosted by party colleague and Finance Minister Arlene Foster MLA to celebrate Her Majesty The Queen becoming the longest reigning Monarch in British history.

“It was a great event and a wonderful opportunity to see the Queen’s throne that she has sat on during visits to Northern Ireland as well as her coronation vase that is displayed daily in the First Minister’s office and chat to David Lindsay, the Lord Lieutenant of Co Down.”
