MID ULSTER Sinn Féin MP Francie Molloy is calling on the political parties in Britain to publicly express their support for the implementation of the Haass proposals.

Speaking on his way to London today, Mr Molloy said: “All the main political parties in Britain should come out and clearly state their full support for the implementation of the proposals which emerged from the talks between the North’s political parties chaired by Richard Haass and Meghan O’Sullivan.

“I am today travelling to London to brief MPs and peers on the current situation, including a meeting with Labour’s Shadow Secretary of State for the north, Ivan Lewis MP. Gerry Adams has already called on the Irish and British Governments to make clear statements of support for the Haass/Sullivan proposals and work with all parties towards their implementation.

“I will be urging all those I meet to support this call and demand the government in London step up to the plate on this matter.

“The party leaders in the north are meeting again today to plot a course forward based on Haass’ proposals. People at home want to see progress. The current position - or should I say, positions - of the British government are simply not good enough.”
