Five people were prosecuted for urinating in the street in Cookstown during 2012 and 2013.
That’s according to figures released by police following an FOI request. This represents only a small proportion of those reprimanded for urinating in public - the PSNI says that many more are dealt with via Fixed Penalty Notices.
One council in London has come up with what it believes to be the solution to the problem of on-street urination - a wheelie bin urinal.
However, Ivor Paisley, Director of Corporate Services for Cookstown District Council said at this stage, it’s not something the council would implement as it’s inappropriate.
