Magherafelt Council Chairperson, Councillor Catherine Elattar, has welcomed the Housing Executive decision to carry out a Latent Demand Test to assess housing need in the Longfield area.
“Latent Demand Tests are undertaken to identify any hidden demand for social and affordable housing which may exist and to encourage those in housing need to register with the Housing Executive,” said the Sinn Fein councillor.
“I have asked for this test to be carried out at the request of local residents There is a lack of affordable social housing in the Longfield area. Young families are unable to find suitable, affordable housing in the area and this has an impact on family life and on the membership of local sporting clubs, such as the GAA.
“I would encourage anyone in housing need, or those who would wish to return to live in the Longfield area, to come forward and register with the Housing Executive, so that the level of housing need can be accurately assessed.”
She added that the test will run until February 28 and those who wish to register their interest should contact the Housing Executive on 028 25667881.”
