Four cars were targeted last week between Sunday 19th June and Thursday 23rd June. The incidents occurred in Island Road, Loughgill Park and Calmore Park.

Constable Louis Darling said: “Anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in these areas last week, or who may have information that could assist our enquiries should contact police on the non-emergency number 101. Alternatively, information can be given anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”

He added: “Police would wish to take this opportunity to remind people not to leave valuables in view inside cars. Please always lock handbags, cameras, phones and other valuables in the boot or take them out of the car altogether. Thieves can often be opportunist and this simple crime prevention tip can deny them opportunities to steal.”

Local DUP Councillor Anne Forde condemned the robberies and has asked people to be vigilant and report anything suspicious.

She also called on the PSNI to step up patrols to “bring to justice those that are terrorising the community”.
