A roofer was fined £165 at Magherafelt Magistrates Court for disorderly behaviour at Queen’s Avenue in the town last year.
Melvin McMenemy (23), of Sandy Braes, admitted the offence which occurred on May 30 last year.
A PPS lawyer said police received a report of a group of males in the area and on arrival found the defendant in the front garden of a house knocking on the door.
He said McMenemy was shouting and threw a glass bottle at the roof of the house which smashed. He ran off shouting and jeering at police until he was apprehended when he said, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry.”
The defence lawyer said McMenemy had been calling on a friend and accepts that his behaviour was wrong and apologised to police under caution.
She said since the incident he has “avoided all adverse attention of police.”
