A PPS lawyer said on October 18 last, another motorist reported to police seeing a BMW car collide with a plastic bollard at Ballyronan Road roundabout and exit on the wrong side of the road.

He said police interviewed defendant on January 18 in connection with the incident and he explained that he had been smoking at the time and dropped the cigarette.

Defence solicitor said the defendant had burned his leg, causing him to react in the way he had.
