Police in Cookstown and Magherafelt in warning over spiked drinks

Police in Cookstown and Magherafelt have issued a warning to revellers over the Bank Holiday weekend about the risk of having their drinks spiked.

Posting on their Facebook pages, the PSNI called on friends to look out for each other.

“If you are heading out there are a few things you can do to STAY SAFE. If out with friends, look after each other and make sure everyone gets home safe,” said the police.

“Don’t leave your drink unattended or accept a drink from someone you don’t know

“If you feel drunk, dizzy or disorientated, seek help from a trusted friend or member of staff

“If you do meet someone, make sure your friends know who they are and where you are.

“Make arrangements to get home before you leave the house.

“Make sure your mobile phone is fully charged.”

They added: “Hope you all have a great weekend!”
