Tobermore residents '˜outraged' after drunk teens damage new £80k tennis courts

The community of Tobermore is said to be 'outraged' after a gang of drunk teens, who were thought to be drinking at the village's tennis courts, left a trail of destruction behind them.

Pictures submitted to the Mail show how nets at the new £80k tennis courts were pulled down over night, while a pile of empty drinks bottles were left behind.

A local man has hit out at the damage.

He said: “Young ones have gone on drunken wrecking spree on Tobermore’s new £80,000 tennis courts.

“These are well used by all of Tobermore and surrounding area.

“As a community rep my heart’s broke seeing this damage this morning.

“The entire village is outraged by this (and) a lot are giving off about 14 and 15-year-olds being served alcohol.

When asked if the culprits hung out in the area most nights, he went on to say that a group of teenagers of around 10 teenagers has been gathering there most nights since summer started.

Police say they have not been aware of the incident yet.
