A NEW Sinn Fein member of Magherafelt District Council was introduced at last night’s meeting.
Gabhan McFalone replaces Councillor Deborah Ni Shiadhail.
She has represented Magherafelt on the council for the past two years and has stepped for personal reasons.
Mr McFalone stood in the 2011 Local Government Elections and just narrowly missed out on a winning a seat.
He has been involved in republican politics from his early youth and was a leading member of Ógra Shinn Féin and a contemporary of his party’s vibrant Finance spokesperson in the Dáil , Pearse Doherty TD.
Recently, Gabhán worked as a political advisor at Stormont focusing on much needed capital investment projects to help alleviate the economic downturn and tackle social disadvantage before taking up a lead organiser’s role in Sinn Féin in South Derry aimed at promoting a new phase in the peace process.
