A NEW group has been formed to represent victims of the Troubles from the Mid Ulster area.

UUP MLA Sandra Overend said the Mid-Ulster Victims Empowerment (MUVE) was set to cover the constituency which “suffered terribly at the hands of terrorists over the years”.

“It is important that such an organisation exists to give support to those effected, and I am delighted to give it my full support,” she said.

“The MUVE Project is run by a team of dedicated volunteers, I have been pleased to meet with them on a number of occasions as they set up the group, and look forward to continuing to work closely them in the future.

“The group now have project worker, and will be offering support and advice on issues such as welfare and counselling, including a drop-in facility, but will also provide a social aspect and run events for its members.

“I look forward to attending the official launch of the Mid-Ulster Victims Empowerment (MUVE) Project on 7th December, 2013 in Cookstown.”
