Newmills and District VC Group was formed in January 2014 to explore how best to commemorate WW1 and the Victoria Cross awarded to Private Robert Morrow, originally from Newmills and one of only eight awarded, a VC in Northern Ireland.

The group managed to get improvements started to the VC Cenotaph in Newmills and is currently in discussions with Dungannon & South Tyrone Borough Council about the development of an Amenity Garden.
