FANS of the hilarious Jake O’Kane will be delighted to learn that the Belfast comic - described as “a raw, savage talent” - has included local venue, The Burnavon, on his list of tour destinations this autumn.
Other venues for O’Kane’s Tear Gas show, which lands at the Burnavon on November 4, include the Braid Arts Centre in Ballymena on Saturday October 29.
Renowned for his appearances on the BBC’s The Blame Game, O’Kane is back on stage by popular demand after a sell-out tour and successful DVD.
O’Kane, who is often regarded as one of Northern Ireland’s most outspoken comics, has poured all of his jokes, insights and feelings about growing up in a war zone into his show.
Combining the stunning photographs of Brendan Murphy with computer graphics, Jake tells the story of his upbringing on the streets, where rioting with police, army and the ‘other’ side was a recreational sport.
Jake’s comedy provides plenty of belly laughs but it also offers a unique look at the corrosive effects of division and sectarianism.
Jake O’Kane’s Tear Gas show will take place at the the Burnavon in Cookstown on Friday November 4.
