A police investigation is underway into the theft of cattle and a cattle trailer from the Magherafelt area.

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police are investigating the theft of approximately 12 cattle and a cattle trailer.

Const. Paul Taggart said: “We received a report that sometime between 9pm on Tuesday, March 15 and 7am the following morning [Wednesday, March 16] that livestock and an Ifor Williams trailer were taken from premises at the Ballynagarve Road, Magherafelt.

“If you can help please call the 101 quoting reference number 25216316.

“Alternatively information about crime can be passed via the independent Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.”

In recent months police in Mid Ulster have been working hard to combat rural crime and have been holding trailer marking events and offering advice to farmers and members of the rural community.
