The PSNI is appealing for information after a pipe bomb left on the window sill of a County Derry home exploded, smashing a window last night.

A woman in her 20s was in the Lincoln Court home at the time, but was not injured in the incident.

The explosion took place just after 10pm on Saturday night in Derry and the attack is being treated as a sectarian hate crime by those investigating.

A PSNI detective said: “We are lucky that no-one was injured by this device or by the window smashing.

“This is being treated as a sectarian hate crime and I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives at Strand Road police station on the non-emergency number 101.”
