A MAN who was said by the District Judge to have made 26 telephone calls to his ex-partner was bound over to keep the peace for 18 months when he appeared at Magherafelt Magistrates Court.
Shane Anthony McTeague (24), of Ballymacombs Road, Portglenone, admitted pursuing a course of conduct against the woman on August 5 last which amounted to harassment.
A prosecuting lawyer said defendant’s ex-partner reported to police receiving telephone and text messages from McTeague in breach of a court order.
He said she told police that she did not want any contact with him.
A defence lawyer described defendant’s behaviour as “naive and misguided.”
He stressed that McTeague was trying to find out about his daughter and had taken the matter into his own hands.
Imposing a restraining order on defendant for three years, District Judge Des Perry told McTeague that he should have gone to his solicitor and he had only created more problems for himself.
