More than 40 Jamie Dornan and Rory Best fans spent last Friday night (September 16) on Translink’s first-ever Metro Legends tour.

Some local residents also jumped on board for the debut tour.

Claire and Cathy Holmes from Maghera, together with Emma McGroggan and Declan Campbell, also from the town, were amongst the first to travel on the Metro Legends Tour.

Following a public vote earlier this year, actor Jamie Dornan and rugby hero Rory Best were selected as the favourite local living legends to be celebrated on a special Metro Double Decker Metro Legends bus wrap.

With top radio personality Pete Snodden as the guide, the group set out on a 90-minute tour around Belfast to visit key locations associated with each of the stars.

Jamie Dornan is known around the globe for playing Christian Grey in the film ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’, which had one of the biggest opening weekends of all time for an R-rated film.

Jamie also plays a leading role in BBC’s ‘The Fall’, a successful hit series credited with helping put Belfast on the film and television production map.

While you can trace his roots to Holywood, Jamie launched his modelling career in Belfast, and also attended school in the city.

Meanwhile rugby star Rory Best is a constant fixture at Kingspan Stadium in Belfast and rugby stadiums around Europe.

In 2016, Rory became the captain for Ireland, the first Ulster rugby player to captain the team since the late 1990s.

He is known as a leader on the field and is well regarded by sports fans in Belfast and beyond.

Translink Metro serves 12 corridors across greater Belfast and customers can enjoy great value with £1.25 journeys (city zone) using a Metro Smartlink card.
