Mid Ulster groups that work to tackle rural isolation and poverty are being invited to apply for Stormont funding.

Administered by the Department or Agriculture, Environment and Rural Development (DAERA) the 2016 rural micro grant scheme is now open for applications. Developed to provide rural, community-led, voluntary organisations with financial assistance towards the purchase of equipment or completion of minor capital works, like improving community premises, that can contribute to alleviating poverty and/ or social isolation. Grant support of between £200-£1,500 is available to eligible rural groups, but applicants must provide match funding of 15%.

The closing date for applications is 12noon on Friday, September 30. Contact Cookstown and Western Shores Area Network (CSWAN) on 028 8773 8845 for details.
