St Vincent de Paul set for annual fashion show
Last year’s inaugural show was an outstanding success, with £5,150 raised towards the Society’s work for the most underprivileged and needy in the local community. A capacity crowd who attended the event in the Greenvale Hotel enjoyed a great night of high fashion and glamour, with an injection of fun and laughter provided by the irrepressible compere Carol Doey, from Lissan.
The upcoming fashion extravaganza, on Thursday, 11th April, at the same venue, will feature much the same format and lots more, as local models display the latest trends in style and haute couture. And as anyone who witnessed last year’s show will testify, Carol’s running commentary will ensure that there will never be a dull moment on the catwalk. Musical entertainment will also be laid on after the main event.

Hide AdAs well as the parade of models on the runway, there will opportunities for everyone to purchase outfits and accessories on the night.
Those in attendance will also be reminded of the Cookstown SVP Conference’s recently-launched and unique personal dresser service, whereby anyone who has a big occasion coming up – like a wedding, birthday party or anniversary – can be kitted out in a stylish ensemble for a fraction of what you would have to pay elsewhere. The clothes and accessories are at knock-down prices, and the service itself is absolutely free.
A spokesman for Cookstown SVP said: “The fashion show will raise much-needed funds for our ongoing work with the needy and most vulnerable in our area, and 100% of donations is ploughed back into the community to help with demands for food, oil electricity etc. Money raised by the sale of clothes, furniture and other goods in the shop is also spent directly on helping the poor and deprived who are struggling to survive in the current economic recession.
“Our Oil Stamp scheme, which helps householders who use oil central heating to budget and save effectively by spreading the cost, has proved an outstanding success and has been adoped by the local district council.”
