Successes at Killymoon

One hundred and six members gathered in the Clubhouse on the evening of Thursday, February 16 for the 128th Annual General Meeting of The Killymoon Golf Club.

The meeting was chaired by Club President Mr Alastair Laird who welcomed everyone to the meeting.

After reading the notice of the meeting; the Honorary Secretary Mr Cyril Rafferty read the minutes of the 2016 meetings and presented his report for 2016.

Mr Stuart Gillis, Honorary Treasurer presented his financial report and was assisted by Mr Ryan Falls from Club Auditors Cavanagh Kelly, who was on hand to provide detailed figures and explanations.

Mr Trevor Crooks presented his Course Convenor’s report and this stimulated some lively debate ranging from the cause of disease in greens to course damage caused by buggies.

The outgoing Captain and outgoing President both addressed the meeting and thanked members for the courtesy and respect shown to them during their respective terms of office.

The election of Club Officers for 2017/18 resulted in the election of the following:

Club President: Mr Hugh O’Neill, Club Captain: Mr Cyril Rafferty, Vice-Captain: Mr Harry Dunlop, Honorary Secretary: Mr Tony McCann, Honorary Treasurer: Mr Kevin McCabe and Immediate Past Captain: Mr Niall Johnston.

In the election for Council members, Messrs Trevor Crooks; Malcolm Kee and Stephen McGuckin were elected to serve alongside sitting members Ronan Fowley; Adrian Gallagher and Martin Whittle.

Following the retirement of Mr Tony Hutchinson; Mr Alastair Laird was elected a Club Trustee joining Bryan Dunlop and Dr John McBride.

New Captain Cyril addressed the meeting. He said that he felt both humble and proud to serve as Captain of Killymoon Golf Club. He thanked Kevin McCabe for affording him the opportunity to serve as Captain and looked forward to an excellent golfing year in 2017.

The ballot for vouchers among paid up members saw Mark Molloy; Gerry Neeson and Peter Garvin pick up vouchers for £100 each

Ladies brnach AGM

The Annual General Meeting of Killymoon Ladies’ Branch took place on Thursday, February 23.

The outgoing Lady Captain, Linda Lennon, opened the meeting and expressed how she had such a memorable and enjoyable year with many highs, an unforgettable experience. She thanked everyone for their support during her year in office including Trevor, Colm and bar staff, Darren & Stacey and staff, Raymond and green staff, Sean and Finola in the office, Gerry, resident photographer and Cyril.

Special thanks were paid to her hard-working Honorary Secretary, Lesley carrying out her duties in her usual quiet unassuming and confident manner. She praised her Committee as a talented bunch and what a pleasure it was working with them. Linda thanked her team captains and team coordinator and congratulated the Tyrone & Fermanagh 4BBB, captained by Catherine Irwin and Donna Mulholland for winning the final and to Diane McIvor’s Cowdy team in reaching the final.

The new Lady Captain, Maura O’Kane, addressed the ladies and paid tribute to the outgoing Lady Captain for her successful year. She said it was a credit to Linda and how she had carried out her duties. Maura then welcomed her Vice-Captain, Mrs Kathryn Kerr and said she was looking forward to working with her in the incoming year. Maura also mentioned the “Get into Golf Programme” that Killymoon are running this April and hoped that as a result of this Killymoon would have some new lady members.

Diane McIvor gave Vote of Thanks to Linda and this was seconded by Donna Mulholland.

Captain, Cyril Rafferty was then asked to say a few words. He congratulated Maura and hoped that she was looking forward to the incoming year as much as he was. He hoped that the Ladies and male members of Killymoon would continue to integrate within the club as this was very important and invited all ladies to join him in the Drive In next month. Mr Captain also invited the ladies to participate in an Eight Team Challenge on Sunday 11th June (the day after the night before!!) and confirmed that he would be reintroducing the “May Ball”.

Mr Captain finished by wishing Lady Captain, Ladies and Teams a great Golfing year.
