Support centre marks first anniversary

MAGHERAFELT Community Support Centre has recently celebrated the opening of their new town centre premises at 13 Queen Street, Magherafelt.

The centre is a self- funded STEP community initiative to meet the needs of the local community.

Geraldine Dougan, centre manager, said: “Individuals, families, and communities are facing increased hardship and isolation as the social, political and economic landscape continues to change.

“The community support centre is here to help them negotiate their way through the bureaucracy and find solutions to meet their needs. Everyone is welcome.”

Magherafelt Community Support Centre is open from Monday – Thursday from 9am-5pm.

The support centre offers free support and advice to both individuals

and community groups, including funding advice, group development, and training as well as a range of specialist services such as housing, employment and immigration Adviceand representation. The centre can also provide meeting space to local community groups.

STEP also provide community support services in Cookstown, above the St Vincent de Paul Centre, Convent Lane and from the main centre in Dungannon where the community owned organisation has been providing cross-community support for 15 years.
