POPULAR Toome venue The Elk picked up the coveted Best Food award for 2013 at the Pub of the Year Awards held in the La Mon Hotel, Belfast on Wednesday night.
The event was hosted by The Apprentice star, Jim Eastwood and was attended by the cream of the local hospitality industry.
Mark Stewart, chairman of Pubs of Ulster, said the standard of entries for this year’s Pub of the Year Awards was exceptionally high.
The Elk underwent an extensive refurbishment in 2013 and now is one of the prime destinations in Mid-Ulster for food, drink and entertainment.
Commenting on the award, Joan Belton, General Manager said it was an honour to receive the Best Food Award at this event.
“The Elk team are delighted to have their efforts recognized with such a prestigious award and is a real credit to their diligence and commitment.
“This year our Head Chef, Michael Lennon, and his team developed a new menu which not only offers the best quality food but outstanding value for money,” she said.
And she added: “I would like to wholeheartedly thank the fantastic Elk team for all their hard work and dedication to making the Elk a success.”
The Elk is not only known for exceptional food but has become one of Northern Ireland’s most popular wedding venues.

a new venture for late 2013 – The Elk Live Lounge.
