Thousands expected in Ballyronan for ‘Last Saturday’

COUNTY Londonderry Grand Black Chapter is holding its annual ‘Last Saturday’ demonstration at Ballyronan on Saturday.

The demonstration is being hosted by South Derry No 4 District and Lisnamorrow RBP 637.

Several thousand people, including visitors from Donegal are expected for the event which traditionally brings to a close the marching season.

Arrangements for the demonstrations were released this week. All preceptories travelling by bus will be routed via the Shore Road for the drop off close to the assembly field.

District Marshals will meet the visiting districts and direct them to the assembly field when they arrive.

The parade will move off at 12 noon sharp from the Shore Road, led by the County bannerette and headed by Imperial and County Officers, followed by Raphoe District No 3, Londonderry District No 2, Coleraine District No 1 and South Londonderry District No 4.

The procession will be via Shore Road, Main Street and Coagh Road to the demonstration field on the Coagh Road.

The platform proceedings will take the form of a religious service and worship will commence at 2pm. Sir Knt Rev Jospeh Andrews, Imperial Deputy Grand Chaplain and County Grand Chaplain will conduct proceedings.
