HUNDREDS of tribute messages in memory of Charly-Jean Thompson who passed away at the weekend following a road accident have been left on social networking site Facebook.
The 15-year-old passed away on Sunday following a road accident on Drum Road in Cookstown last Wednesday 14th August where she was a passenger in a BMW car when was involved in a collision with a 4x4 on the Drum Road, between Cookstown and Omagh.
A 17-year-old man, named locally as Ryan McCracken and understood to be Charly-Jean’s boyfriend was also seriously hurt in the crash.
A male in his 50’s also involved in the collision received hospital treatment along with another person following the accident.
Hundreds of messages and tributes have been left on a Facebook page set up in Charly-Jean’s memory entitled ‘RIP Charly-jean Thompson’ which has almost 3,000 ‘likes’.
One message read: ‘RIP charly u were certainly the most loved girl about u will never be forgotten and thoughts and prayers go out to the Thompson family at this hard and tragic time, it has hit a lot of people to see someone so special gone form our lives.x’
DUP MLA Ian McCrea also expressed his sympathy to the family. Speaking after hearing the tragic news, Ian McCrea said: “I want to send my sincere sympathy to the Thompson family following the tragic and untimely death of Charly-Jean after the car that she was a passenger in collided with a telegraph pole on the Drum Road.
“Whilst I cannot comprehend how the family are feeling at this heartbreaking time, however, I can assure the family they are very much in my thoughts and prayers at this very difficult time and to the others injured in the crash I wish them a swift recovery.”
