A design company run by a former Dungannon man is in the final of the Society of British Interior Design International Excellence Awards.
Alan Crawford is the founder and principal of Crawford International Design Associates (CIDA) which specialises in international hotel designs.
It has offices in Shanghai, China and Kaohsiung, Taiwan.
One of Alan’s projects, Sofitel in Kunming City, Yunnan Province, China, has made it through to the final.
The final winner will be announced on November 25 and decided 70 per cent by a judging panel and 30 per cent by public online vote.
Alan is inviting local people to vote online for his project.
A graduate of Dundee University, he has been 18 years living in Asia, ten of these have been in China.
The CIDA project is one of 20 finalists in the Hotel Design category.
The Sofitel is located in Kunming the capital city of Yunnan Province China.
Yunnan boarders Burma/Myanmar, Vietnam, and Laos and is less than 100 km from Thailand.
It is a place of diverse cultures and landscapes. Alan combined these mixed influences and ideologies with the Sofitel Brand requirements to reflect “French Design”, and incorporated the owning company’s core business as a steel manufacturer, to provide a sensual, surprising environmental experience befitting of a luxury International 5 Star Hotel.
