Tyrone man charged with child sex assault to apply for bail

A Tyrone man accused of rape and a sex assault on a child aims to make a bail application at court on Wednesday.

The 50-year-old, who is being held in HMP Maghaberry on remand, cannot be named to protect the identity of his alleged victims.

He stands charged with seven sexual assaults including a sex act with a child under 13, rape and four indecent assaults on a female.

All the charges relate to alleged incidents which occurred on dates between 2007 and 2015.

East Tyrone Magistrates’ Court heard a prosecutor from the PPS tell the court that the forensics in the case are complete and that she expects the full file to be available from August 14.

A defence solicitor told the court that he proposes to make a bail application on behalf of his client on July 29.

All the charges relate to alleged incidents which occurred on dates between 2007 and 2015.

District Judge Bonita Boyd then adjourned the case to reappear at the court a week.
