Ulster Scots radio goes live!

A NEW radio station hit the airwaves this week as fUSe FM, a non-profit community radio station, went live.

Broadcasting to an audience within a ten mile radius of its hub in Maghera, fUSe FM began its short broadcasting stint on 106.2FM on Tuesday of this week.

The station has already been successful in bringing community based radio to the Ballymoney and Rathfriland areas amongst others.

The broadcasting licence for fUSe FM will run until midnight on thursday 3 September.

During its time on the air, the station will be highlighting local musicians, history and culture from the Mid-Ulster area and Northern Ireland in general featuring the work of Maghera folk group HDC, among others.

The station will also be accepting text messages and requests for songs on 07732 699 137 throughout the week.

A marquee will also be in place beside Maghera Orange Hall for the last three days (September 1 - Spetember 3) with an entry fee of 3.

Anyone interested in helping or contributing to the station (DJ, history, music, advertising, sponsorship etc) should contact Hugh Brownlow on 07716 754 995.
