For those of you fatigued by the endless saga of the Northern Ireland Community Safety College at Desertcreat, I make no apology.
Seven days ago, we reported the breaking news that negotiations between the contractors and the board tasked with delivering the college, had fallen apart.
In truth, it came as little surprise.
But the gravity of this setback which has become more apparent over the last week, is making more people sit up and ask ‘will this college ever be built at Desertcreat?’.
After speaking with the DUP’s Jonathan Craig it certainly appears that the viability of the site at Desertcreat could now be called into question, when the Stormont Executive begins the post mortem.
Sinn Fein MP Francie Molloy, believes the project can still be salvaged, albeit on a smaller scale.
What is now almost certain, however, is that this ambitious complex will not get off the ground in 2014.
And that in itself, will come as a major blow for all those companies in Mid Ulster who have potentially invested whatever limited capital they have in preparation for work at Desertcreat.
