COOKSTOWN Folk Club did their bit for charity today with a special performance outside the Burnavon as part of the Ireland wide Trad for Trocaire initiative.
Established in 1973, Trócaire now works in over 20 countries to raise awareness on the causes of poverty through their outreach programmes in the education sector, and through public fundraising campaigns and advocacy work.
Their focus is on a number of issues including livelihood, human rights, gender equality, HIV, climate change and emergency relief.
The Trad for Trocaire is an annual fundraising initiative where musicians throughout the country are invited to organise special musical events to raise money for the work of Trocaire. So what better response can there be locally than for our own Cookstown Folk Club to step up to the mark!
Cookstown Folk Club repertoire now includes a wide range of Scottish, Irish and American Bluegrass music.
