THE Cookstown Street Angels project has been running for around four months and already people have been praising the scheme.
Manager of Positive Steps Community Centre in Cookstown, Mary Hogg took time out from her busy schedule to talk to the MAIL about the Street Angels project and how it has benefitted the town.
She has also made an appeal for volunteers to come forward to help with the outreach project which is run every other Saturday night.
Inspector Hazel Reid from the Neighbourhood Policing Team said the Street Angels are a very welcome addition to the resources available to the night time economy.
“To date they have added value by giving an extra dimension to the engagement with those enjoying a night out as evidenced by the very positive feedback to date,” she told the MAIL.
Anyone who feels they can volunteer with the Street Angels can contact Mary or Bernie at Positive Steps on 028 8676 1020.
