Cookstown could host two continental markets each year after the success of the town’s first ever market this weekend.
Chief Executive of the council Adrian McCreesh paid tribute to the council staff and local traders who worked together in organising the continental market which runs until Sunday evening.
“The local shops have received a major return and international traders have outperformed their expectations, so it has been a really huge success,” he said.
“This will be an annual or a biannual event, of that I am absolutely sure,” added the council chief.
“It has been a real delight, it has far exceeded our expectations,” said Lynn Shiels from the council.
“The footfall in the town has increased significantly and it has given a real boost to the town.
