THE DUP Vice-chair of Magherafelt District Council, Anne Forde is urging everyone to give “as much as they can” to this year’s Poppy Appeal, which she launched this week.

Last year the Appeal raised almost £17,000 and Councillor Forde hopes local people will be able to surpass that amount this year.

Launching the 2013 local Poppy Appeal at Magherafelt District Council Offices on Tuesday afternoon of this week were Magherafelt District Council Vice-Chairperson Anne Forde, Ian McCrea MLA, Mark Best (Upperlands Royal British Legion), Renee Lyn (Upperlands Royal British Legion), Robert Hurl (Magherafelt Royal British Legion), Jim Wilson (Castledawson Royal British Legion), Roy Lennox (Magherafelt Royal British Legion) and Cllr Jackie Crawford.INMM4413-362SR

She wished the local collectors every success in their fund raising and praised the hard work of the Royal British Legion. ““We remembered all the families who had lost loved ones through the horrific World Wars and more recently in Northern Ireland,” she said.
